Kids' Summer Class Series

Join us for a fun, hands-on summer cooking series designed for young cooks. Over four weeks, participants will build confidence in the kitchen while learning foundational cooking skills in a supportive and interactive environment. Each class highlights a featured technique while our instructors guide the group step-by-step through the process. 

Throughout the series, participants will learn to make handmade cheese-stuffed ravioli, dumplings, sushi rolls, and gluten-free hand pies, developing new kitchen skills along the way. Supporting components of each dish are prepared by our team so the group can focus on the most exciting parts of cooking. At the end of each class, everyone will sit down together to enjoy the meal family-style.

$300 per participant for the 4-class series

(Includes four 2-hour classes — $75 per class)

Registration is currently available for the full series. If space remains closer to the start date, we may expand registration to include individual class offerings. Please be sure to list the attending child’s name on the ticket when enrolling.


Class Series and Menus

June 9: Handmade Cheese-Stuffed Ravioli

The series begins with the fundamentals of pasta-making. Participants will prepare fresh pasta dough from scratch, learning how to roll the dough, shape it into ravioli, fill each piece with a creamy cheese filling, and cook the finished pasta. The ravioli will be served with a rich, slow-cooked marinara sauce, with the option of classic butter noodles for those who prefer it. Everything is finished with freshly grated parmesan cheese.

 June 16: Dumpling Making Workshop

This class focuses on the techniques behind dumpling making. Participants will learn how dumplings come together as they practice filling, folding, and sealing dumplings using prepared wrappers and filling. Our instructors will guide the group through folding techniques while helping everyone shape their dumplings before cooking them together. Participants will also learn how to build flavor through sauces and finishing touches. Together, the group will prepare a sesame soy dipping sauce and learn the steps behind creating a sesame dressing for the cucumber salad, along with simple techniques for garnishing and finishing dishes before serving.

June 23: Build-Your-Own Sushi Rolls

In this class, participants will learn how sushi rolls come together while building their own veggie and California-style rolls. Using seasoned sushi rice, nori, and classic fillings, our instructors will guide the group through layering ingredients, shaping the rolls, and slicing them into neat pieces. Along the way, participants will learn a few simple tips for assembling and finishing sushi before enjoying their rolls with traditional accompaniments at the end of cooking.

June 30: Gluten-Free Nutella & Strawberry Hand Pies

The series concludes with baking sweet gluten-free hand pies. Participants will work with gluten-free dough while learning how to portion, fill, and seal the pastries before baking them until golden. Two fillings will be featured: Nutella and Sweet Strawberry. Once baked, the hand pies will be served warm with homemade vanilla whipped cream to finish the final class of the series.

Parent/Guardian FAQ

Do parents need to stay during class? No. This is a drop-off class. Parents or guardians will check participants in at the beginning of class and return for pick-up at the end of the session.

When should participants arrive for class? Please plan to arrive about 10 minutes before the scheduled class time to allow for check-in and getting settled before we begin.

Who can pick up participants after class? Participants should be picked up promptly at the end of class by a parent or guardian. If someone else will be picking up your child, please notify us in advance.

What ages is this series designed for? This series is designed for participants ages 8–14. Our teaching kitchen is equipped with full-height work tables, so this age range allows everyone to work comfortably and safely at the stations.

Does prior cooking experience matter? No prior experience is necessary. Our instructors guide the group step-by-step through each activity.

When will participants eat the food they make? At the end of cooking, the group will enjoy the dishes they prepared family-style with their classmates, and leftovers can be taken home.

What should participants wear? Closed-toe shoes are required for safety. Comfortable clothing is recommended and long hair should be tied back. Aprons will be provided.

Can food allergies be accommodated? Because ingredients are planned and prepared in advance, we are not able to accommodate individual food allergies or dietary restrictions beyond what is listed in the menu. Our kitchen regularly works with ingredients including wheat, dairy, eggs, soy, shellfish, and nuts, and we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. If you have questions about ingredients used in a particular class, please reach out before registering to cookwith@billiesgrocery.com.

How many participants are in each class? Class size is limited to 12 participants so that everyone receives plenty of guidance and hands-on instruction. Keeping the class small allows our instructors to work closely with the group, help build skills step-by-step, and ensure everyone stays safe and engaged in the kitchen.


Cancellation Policy

These classes are part of a limited-capacity 4-week series, and registration reserves a seat for all four sessions. If your child is unable to attend one of the scheduled classes, you are welcome to send a friend or family member in their place. Please note that it will be the responsibility of the parent or guardian to communicate who will be attending in place of the original participant, all communication can be made to cookwith@billiesgrocery.com. 

Because space is very limited and ingredients are planned in advance, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers once registration is completed. Enrollment secures a spot in the full series regardless of attendance.
